Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4 fillets salmon skin-on (about 6 oz each)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 0.33 cup honey
  • 0.25 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger grated
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice freshly squeezed
  • 0.25 tsp kosher salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper

Equipment

  • Oven-safe skillet
  • Small bowl
  • Whisk
  • Fish spatula

Method

Preparation
  1. Position an oven rack roughly 6 inches from the broiler and preheat the broiler to HIGH.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, and lemon juice until completely smooth. Set aside.
  3. Pat the salmon fillets completely dry with paper towels. Season the flesh side lightly with salt and pepper.
  4. Heat the olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Place the salmon fillets skin-side down and cook undisturbed for 3 to 4 minutes until the skin is crispy.
  5. Pour the prepared honey glaze mixture directly over and around the salmon in the skillet. Let it bubble on the stove for 1 minute.
  6. Transfer the skillet directly to the oven. Broil for 3 to 5 minutes, keeping a close eye on it, until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and the glaze is thick, sticky, and caramelized.
  7. Serve immediately, spooning the thickened pan sauce generously over the top of the salmon fillets.

Notes

Do not walk away while the salmon is under the broiler; the honey in the glaze can burn very quickly if left unattended.
