Preparation
- Position an oven rack roughly 6 inches from the broiler and preheat the broiler to HIGH.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, and lemon juice until completely smooth. Set aside.
- Pat the salmon fillets completely dry with paper towels. Season the flesh side lightly with salt and pepper.
- Heat the olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Place the salmon fillets skin-side down and cook undisturbed for 3 to 4 minutes until the skin is crispy.
- Pour the prepared honey glaze mixture directly over and around the salmon in the skillet. Let it bubble on the stove for 1 minute.
- Transfer the skillet directly to the oven. Broil for 3 to 5 minutes, keeping a close eye on it, until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and the glaze is thick, sticky, and caramelized.
- Serve immediately, spooning the thickened pan sauce generously over the top of the salmon fillets.
Notes
Do not walk away while the salmon is under the broiler; the honey in the glaze can burn very quickly if left unattended.
